SPEAKER BIOS
Miranda Anandappa is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Columbus office and is responsible for leading the program's senior-focused impact work and coordinating senior services across LASCO's rural service area. Miranda works with LASCO's rural offices and substantive teams to identify and address legal issues predominantly affecting older adults, including homeownership, Medicare/Medicaid, estate planning, and probate-related matters. Miranda joined LASCO (formerly known as SEOLS) in 2018 as a Staff Attorney in the Athens office. There, she worked as a generalist, primarily handling wills and estates, family law, domestic violence, and Title IX cases. She also facilitated and provided legal services to older adults at regular senior legal clinics in the office service area. Miranda received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2017 and Bachelor's degrees in Social Work and International Studies from Loyola University Chicago in 2014.
Paul Bryson earned his JD from Capital University Law School. He is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and serves on the board of Central Community House and the Gahanna Board of Building and Zoning Appeals. Paul is the Managing Attorney for Community Economic Development at Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio. Before joining LASCO, Paul actively practiced family law, criminal defense, and business law in private practice. In his free time, Paul enjoys being a husband, father, cat dad, medieval enthusiast, and font of occasionally-useful trivia and dad jokes.
Chris Lardiere of Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook Ltd. focuses his practice by serving as counsel in litigation and provides outside general counsel services for a wide variety of business and individual clients, including not for profit entities. In addition to his individual clients, Chris represents a wide variety of businesses, including financial institutions; churches; real estate management companies and landlords; manufacturing companies and general service companies. Chris earned his J.D. from Capital University Law School. In addition to his extensive volunteer experience in Hilliard, he is a regular volunteer with LASCO’s Senior Referral Project and received the LASCO 2023 “Powerhouse” pro bono award.
Candice Wooten earned her degree in Paralegal Studies at Oxnard College in Oxnard, California. Candice joined LASCO in July of 2023 as the Pro Bono Team Paralegal, and in this role, she is the Team Lead for the Seniors Referrals Project and also collaborates with Senior Attorney Miranda Anandappa and the Ohio Justice Bus to coordinate Wills Clinics throughout the LASCO service area. She is a member of the Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio.
NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM: Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio (LASCO) offers two pro bono projects focused on estate planning for low-income seniors and veterans. The Seniors Referral Project (SRP) connects clients with volunteer lawyers and paralegals who draft wills, advance directives, and transfer on death affidavits throughout our service area. Volunteers can participate remotely or in-person. At LASCO Wills Clinics, volunteer lawyers and paralegals draft and execute necessary documents at local senior centers and other community sites throughout our service area. SRP cases are available throughout the year, and volunteers can accept as many referrals as they wish.
The training will cover the basics of document drafting, frequently asked questions, and tips for volunteers. The training is free to attorneys and paralegals who participate in or agree to commit to the LASCO Pro Bono Program. Members who sign up will join the #ColumbusBarCares Team.
