Code Sections 3105.41 to 3105.54:

o Passed by the 129th General Assembly as Amended Substitute House Bill 461, effective on March 22, 2013.

o Created in 2007 by members of a Collaborative Law Sub-committee of a Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution for Children and Families.

o Originally based upon the Uniform Collaborative Law Act (UCLA), approved by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) in 2009 and amended in 2010, but narrowed to family law context.

Live Collaborative Case Scene One – The Initial Consultation

               This scene you will walk through the initial consultation meeting between attorney and client.  It outlines the questions the attorney should ask in the initial interview and illustrates techniques attorneys can use to draw out relevant information to begin to build the framework for the collaborative process.  Also illustrates how the attorney can explain the collaborative process to clients.  It also shows the initial meeting with attorneys representing both parties and how to navigate that first discussion.
